i) There are 40-50 stairs in Amber Fort till initial level...you may drive car upto this level.... or take elephant ride....

If you want to click lots of photos...go in day time when visibility is good... if you want to see light and sound show, prefer evenings...

ii) To get up to the fort itself you can either walk the stairs or take a jeep, which is preferable. If you don't care about how animals feel, at all, there are tortured and hard working slave elephants bringing you to the top.

Inside the palace there are some stairs but also ramps to access most areas so disabled people can get around to most parts. Great!

Quite a few stairs involved in order to fully appreciate all parts of the fort, potentially there are about 20/30 stairs in Amber Fort to enter initially too.

I visited in the late morning and found this a good, bright time of day and was able to enjoy long clear views across the mountains. There was plenty of shade if it got too hot.
